2000 years after the Chinese invented animation (with the invention of the Zoetrope by Ting Huan in 180 AD), they are now reclaiming ownership over the art form. More than 10,000 animation studios are operating around the country and global animation giants have set a foot hold as well. ‘Oriental Dreamworks’ the new JV of ‘Dreamworks’ ‘Shanghai Media Group’ and ‘China Investment Alliance’ is currently producing ‘Kung-Fu Panda 3’ entirely in China, to be released to the screens in 2016. The industry is booming, but don’t expect to see a local version of ‘South Park’ or “Family Guy’ just yet.
